Cultural Activities & Programming
Alliance Française's mission all around the world is to facilitate an exchange between a local culture and French and French-speaking cultures.
In the United States, individual Alliance chapters offer up to a hundred cultural and social events per year, selected among local talents or recruited directly from France. Alliance Française chapters take an active part in the organization of the annual "Journées de la Francophonie".
The Délégation générale makes available to the American network of Alliances and to cultural partners (universities, local venues) a catalog of lecturers and performers. From 2001 to 2005, the DG has supported the American tours of Robert Badinter, Jacques Dedecker, Alain Dubos, Michel Frodon, Claude Imbert, Jacques Julliard, Blandine Kriegel or Lionel Stoleru, among others. The Théâtre de la Valette, the band Matapat or French Singer Bernard Lavilliers came in the US at the Alliance Française's initiative.
