FRAMES in Australia
Monday, November 23, 2009
The Alliances Françaises of Australia held their annual meeting from September 27 to 29, 2009 in Canberra.
Were represented the 6 largest centers of this network comprising 31 Alliances: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, as well as the Cultural Services led by the Cultural Counselor Pierre Labbe. A meeting at the Embassy of France gave an opportunity for the Alliance Française to coordonate its effort with the Cultural Services in the context of a new initiative by the Ministries of Education of the 6 States and the ACT in favor of language learning.
With 8,000 members, the Australian AF network is led by Philippe Milloux, Délégué général to Australia and Director of the Alliance Française de Canberra.
With the support of the Fondation Alliance Française in Paris, the Délégation générale USA participated in the discussions and presented FRAMES. This first encounter results in a plan of action to enter the program, with immediate adoption of MERLIN. The Online Placement Test and the "Passeport pour le français" will progressively be introduced in 2010, indicating that, after Canada and Ireland, FRAMES will eventually include Australia.
