Le Mot du Délégué général
Sunday, January 18, 2009
As is customary at the start of each year, the representatives of this Delegation General will be meeting with you in the weeks ahead.
We will see you in Paris for the 31st annual Colloque of the Fondation Alliance Française, which will be held from Janurary 27-29 on Boulevard Raspail and for which the final program has just been published.
We will see you in Houston on February 19-20, when directors, pedagogical and cultural coordinators and media librarians from a record number of Alliance Françaises in the American network will come to meet.
As is customary, these meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss the situations in your respective Alliances and the Delegation General’s proposals to help you better fulfill your missions in an increasingly difficult economic climate.
Smart Steps to French, the educational program for Anglophone children aged 4 to 12, will certainly be at the center of pedagogical discussions.
The 2009-2010 artistic and cultural season, for which the program will soon be distributed, will add to the discussions on cultural events.
In Houston, we will have the honor of welcoming Gérald Candelle, who will officially represent the Fondation Alliance Française, and who I will accompany on visits beforehand to Austin and afterwards to Dallas.
This year we will also be welcoming an outside speaker for the first time. Mr. Eric Studer will give a workshop on the theme of marketing.
I will wrap up by thanking you for welcoming a call from our Office Manager, Melissa Kling, who is collecting by-laws and letters of recognition for our Paris headquarters from the Alliances in the network.
The Delegation General’s team looks forward to seeing a number of you soon in Paris and/or Houston.
See you soon,
