The "Passeport pour le français" is a creation of the Alliance  Française de Chicago and is currently under production with fundings from the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, the Délégation générale and the Alliance Française Fondation. Participating Alliance Française chapters will give their students the possibility to visualize their progress in learning French according to CEFR and FRAMES standards.

The "Passeport pour le français", which looks like a European Community passport, includes an ID page, 6 pages corresponding to all six CEFR levels (from A1 to C2), and a page explaining AF FRAMES standards. Neither a portfolio or an official certificate, it still works as a Alliance Française certificate of completion, offering students a written proof of their level of fluency as well as a quick reference to the progress of their studies in French. As any other "passport", the "Passeport pour le français" is also a travel document through the Alliance Française network.
