Cultural Programming 2007-2008
Tuesday, July 10, 2007
Dear Friends,
Summer has arrived, putting an end to the 2006-2007 season…
Anne-Lise Kieffer, who will be your interlocutor until September 30th, and myself are currently working on the 2007-2008 season, and particularly on the autumn tours.
The lecturers Ronald Katz, Abdelwahab Meddeb, Pierre-Edouard Deldique, Jean Harzic, Evelyne Bloch-Dano, Stéphane Martin, and Jean Benoit Nadeau will together complete approximately 40 presentations between mid-September and mid-December.
After a promising debut last season, the partnership with WACA has been renewed for this year, with the possibility of inviting, punctually, the five proposed lecturers either functioning as an Alliance Française, or in partnership with your local WACA chapter if necessary. In either case, all of the formalities are to be taken care of through the Délégation générale, and the final sign-up date is September 30.
In regards to the artistic tours, the vocal phenomenon from Cameroon, Gino Sitson, accompanied by the group Vocal Deliria, presents his surprising singing tour in September, Susie Morgenstern will tour with the theatrical piece adapted from her work, Confessions of a Dining Diva from mid-October until mid-November, and the gypsy jazz ensemble Opus 4 will give its concerts between mid-November and mid-December.
The sign-up deadline of May 31 has long since passed, but it is still possible, in certain cases, to register your Alliance for the artistic and cultural tours of the coming season.
The link /en/Page.Culture.Lecture.aspx
will take you to the list of lecturers offered by the Délégation générale, with the planned dates for their respective tours.
The link /en/Page.Culture.Concerts.aspx
will take you to the page of our website where you will find the list of artistic tours.
For the period of January and February, 2008, we turn your attention to the jazz trio of pianist Philippe Duchemin, the classical music ensemble of Le Quatuor de Chartres, as well as Comme deux Frères, a theater play by Maryse Condé currently being presented at the Festival d’Avignon. I would like to remind you that those Alliances that are members of the Fédération can benefit from a grant of $500 for this performance.
We would also like to remind you that the Délégation générale cannot confirm a registration for a tour until the registration forms and the deposit check have both been received. The final date to register for the first semester of 2008 is August 30th!!!
One last word concerning the 2008-2009 season: we are already working on the programming for this season, and are open to any and all suggestions that you might have for us. It is the mission of the Délégation générale to propose and to carry out projects, but also to relay any propostion that could benefit the largest number of Alliances in the network.
We are at your disposal this summer, Anne-Lise and I, to respond to your questions and to help you complete the registration formalities if needed.
Don’t hesitate!
Sincerely,
Thierry Lagnau
Délégué général adjoint
